15. Review and Summation

"Heaven's being able to not have to worry about remembering"

Clearing the way for a fruitful understanding entails organizing and synthesizing various ideas into a unified whole.  The more simple, the more powerful.  Through integration, the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

Golf, we will learn to see, is a game that engages us at all levels of our being.  Being consistent, in action and decision ultimately determines the level at which we may excel.  Regardless of ability, in the end we all become more rounded, humble, experience wise and knowledge wise.

"Practice as you play

and play as you practice"

Rehearsing may be the more appropriate term when referring to the art of practicing.  We learn by doing.   Using the imagination to create various situations while on the practice tee will enhance the ability to foresee and to be prepared for situations.

Analysis Paralysis

Over-analyzing the golf swing can lead to an interruption in the natural flow of motion causing an ill-timed golf swing.  keep it as simple as possible.  Retaining a flowing rhythmic motion should be the primary concern of the golf move.  The ball just gets in the way of a good stroke.

Plane and Simple

Swing mechanics are important in the development of good swing feelings.  Mechanics are primarily worked on while practicing on the driving range.   We are training ourselves to make good, balanced swings.  We are learning the dance steps and practicing them.  On the golf course, however we need to be able to trust our swing and GO primarily with rhythm feeling.  Now,  we dance the dance.

Finally, practice your knowledge, whatever it may be, for 'knowledge without practice is a body without life'. "Think of the end before the beginning".  Always decide what you want to do beforehand with a particular shot.  Make it a habit of having a plan in mind when creating your next shot and follow through!
